When should I collect my saliva sample?

Collect your sample on a typical day between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. Avoid unusually stressful or overly relaxing days, as adrenal hormones fluctuate based on stress. Samples should reach the laboratory within 8 days of collection and may be refrigerated for up to 3 days if needed. Plan shipping so samples arrive on a weekday and do not sit in transit over the weekend.

Do I need to stop supplements or medications before collecting my sample?

You should stop Adrenal Formula and ProgestaKey for 3–5 days before collection. Do not stop prescription medications, including antidepressants or anti-anxiety medications. If possible, collect your morning sample before taking your daily dose.

What if I don’t produce enough saliva, or make a mistake with my kit?

If you have trouble producing saliva, you may smell a lemon wedge, vinegar, pickle juice, your favorite food, or chew dental-grade paraffin wax. My blood tests came out way different than this test.

I decided to have an extensive blood test done as well and my results were very different from this test.

Thank you for your review. Blood and saliva tests are different. The following is directly from the lab's website to help you better understand the difference:
Saliva testing specifically measures free, unbound hormone levels. This is
because saliva-producing, or acinar, cells only allow unbound steroid
hormones into the salivary ducts. This eliminates the need to estimate how
much circulating hormone is present in a patient’s body.
If measuring total hormone levels in serum, calculations are required to
estimate levels of free hormone. Even then, the levels are estimates and are
not predictably reliable measures of free hormone activity at the tissue
level.
The advantage of salivary testing creates a useful picture of biologically
active levels of hormones at the tissue and cellular level.

No regrets, a valuable test

I debated for awhile about ordering this test due to its cost, but then I saw it as an investment.
