I read about Dr. Ann Louise Gittleman’s 'Ultra Fat Flush' Smoothie diet in First for Women Magazine (April 12, 2010). The article featured a protocol that was different than the Fat Flush Smoothie Shakedown, I’m confused about what I should do?
The only smoothie diet endorsed by Dr. Ann Louise is the Fat Flush Smoothie Shakedown. How is this program different than the other Fat Flush programs?
The Smoothie Shakedown is designed as a simple two-week turbo-charged program to help supercharge metabolism and give you a boost on your weight loss journey. The Smoothie Shakedown can be used as a jumpstart to Fat Flush, however, it is a stand-alone plan that is NOT designed to be used in place of or in combination with any of the designated phases. It can also be used between phases. In other words, if you are doing the Shakedown, stick to the specific protocols of the Shakedown.
I’m an experienced Fat Flusher, why is the Shakedown protocol different than Fat Flush? Does this mean that the Fat Flush protocols and food choices have changed?
The protocols and food choices for each plan are designed specifically for that plan. If a particular food is allowed on the Shakedown and not on Fat Flush or vice versa, it does not mean that it’s now “legal” on all plans. For optimum weight loss results, please choose one program and follow it according to the protocol.

How can I customize the smoothie to fit my taste?
Experiment with different approved fruits and combinations until you find your favorites! You can adjust the recipe by adding more water, unsweetened cranberry juice or a little extra fruit. Also, try blending the fruit and water first before adding the oil, seeds and protein powder into the blender. When it comes to flaxseed oil, we’ve found that the Omega Hi-Lignan Flaxseed Oil is the best-tasting on the market.
Do I have to follow the exact dinner menu or can I create my own recipes?
The dinner menu featured in the protocol is just a sample. As long as you stick to the approved foods and spices, you can be as creative as you like! Enjoy a grilled chicken salad or Fat Flush-style “spaghetti” with lean beef, fresh tomatoes, veggies, and spaghetti squash!
Can I have my meal anytime during the day, or only at dinner?
Feel free to plan your daily menu to fit your schedule. Enjoy two smoothies and one meal a day in any order you like.
What if I get hungry between meals or after dinner?
Have one of the approved snacks (veggies, fruit or a third smoothie) if you get hungry! Avoid eating two hours before bedtime.
Can I still drink coffee?
Yes, but limit yourself to one cup of coffee a day (preferably organic). You’ll have so much newfound energy on the Shakedown that you won’t even miss it!

Is exercise recommended on this plan?
Yes, but remember to keep your body nourished and add in extra snacks as needed (including a third smoothie). Given the accelerated nature of this program, only light to moderate exercise is recommended.

I’ve had really good results during the two weeks; can I keep doing the Shakedown?
If you have 50 pounds or more to lose, you can stick to this particular program for up to one month at a time. In order to maximize your results, it is recommended to take a one-week break before starting another two-week round of the Shakedown. I’ve completed the program, but still have more weight to lose (or I want to maintain my weight loss), what’s next?
